Another awesome day of trucking over 500 miles today. Loaded this morning early just outside of Boston and then headed back south towards West Virginia. Weather was much better today and traffic was decent so we made some good miles. We’re posted up at a hotel in Maryland about a half an hour from our delivery tomorrow. Will get this load delivered tomorrow on time and I’ll be ready for the next! I’ve been out on the road just over a month now and I’ve got about one week left of training and then I’ll be headed home for a break

Got our load delivered on time at the plant in Inwood, West Virginia today & then headed south to the Kingsport, TN terminal to drop our trailer & post up for the night. Weather & traffic were great today, no problems. Our next load will be pre-loaded tomorrow afternoon around 1700 and delivers between 0700-1530 Saturday in Pascagoula, MS so we'll head out Friday morning & truck all day, get as close as we can & finish the rest Saturday morning. It's about 650 miles so if all is good I should be able to knock most of that out Friday. My trainer told me that once we get back to the Louisiana terminal, I'm good to go home! Still need to work on my backing some more but it'll come with time. It's a little different for me backing a tanker after learning with a van. The tanker is shorter but there's no pivot point in the rear due to position of tandems & that throws me off. I'll get it in time.

Exactly. There's no pivot point, no backswing--you know exactly where your back end is. Stop overthinking it, Driver! You got this!

Just curious, once your own will you still be staying in hotels on these layovers or will you be in the sleeper more?

I had the toughest time transitioning from the pivot of my fifth wheel RV to a tanker. Very frustrating. But once you realize youhaveno pivot point, all is good.

Sleeper. These are single bunk trucks so it's a hotel every night with a trainer. Hotels are available at terminals for 34s though.

Trucked down from Kingsport Tennessee to Saratown, AL yesterday, just over 600 miles. Weather was good just some light storms along the way enough to keep the windows clean and the traffic was light all day. Got a good nights sleep and now I have to deliver this load to Pascagoula, MS and head back to the terminal in St. Gabriel, LA to drop this trailer and that will conclude my training! I was informed yesterday that I will be getting my own truck on Monday and driving it back to Florida with an empty tank so looking forward to that and a well-deserved break at home.

Congratulations! Hopefully you'll continue the updates once you go solo. I'll be curious to hear what you're miles are like once you get out on your own?

I definitely will keep posting my experiences as I traverse this new venture. I’m honestly not sure how many miles I’ll get out of Florida but I’ve been told by the guy that oversees that terminal and a few others that he has plenty of work. I know they hired at least two other guys to run OTR out of Lakeland so we’ll see.
