Not sure what the has to do with anything that was brought up in this thread but how about presumed innocence? Why should the driver need to prove his accuser is not telling the truth when they provide no proof other than their word?

 

Because megas suck and will fire a driver for the fun of it......

 

Because they stated recording with there phone, if not a phone call then it would have nothing to do with it.

 

what you might try to understand is the new...and old...generations of truckers out there.

us older guys, didn't even have cell phones, back in our earlier years.

and before cb radios, many truckers used hand signals to passing trucks, warning of the scales, or bears.

as time progressed, the cb radio came with i think 23 channels....wowser, we were stylin'....

then as time went on more, 40 channels were the new rage....wowser even still..

then of course side band channels, giving us 120 channels to talk with someone, and not bother others.

then came (if i recall) bag phones....those things (which i had one) must have weighed about 30 pounds...!!!

at least it seemed like it did

then came along smaller cell phones, then iphones and what ever else, god only knows i personally ain't keeping up with all this new fangled crappola.

it's evolutionary in every way in this industry.....

you are in the newer generation (i figured) so your communications and information is more modern and closer to being precise than that darned old 40 channel cb, that no one listens to anymore, but still has one...."just in case"...

i ain't gonna say who is or isn't a real truck driver....i'll let the others chime in and bust your chops on that...or vice-versa......

just try and remember at least one thing......communications took place in all forms over the years thru it's infancy to now...and will continue to bloom into something that someone some day will say to you.....

To tell the guy going the other way about that tractor that just pulled out over the hill he's about to go over, or that truck that's broke down with no lights or flashers on about a mile back. How about for loading when you need to pull ahead or back up another six inches or move to the back of the trailer? I dont use my cb all that much, but when I do I'm glad as hell I have it.

 

Communication and conversation.

Your phone/gps/whatever device won't let you know about the moose on the highway around the next corner, the crash that just happened, that airline spring that snapped and many other things.

 

In the old days the CB was useful to hear that you were dragging a gator, or your trailer doors were open, or you had no trailer lights, or your landing gear was down, etc. Now you have to go to Facebook.com, skip over 98 pages of Kim Kardashian updates, search for "how awesome am I?" and MAYBE you'll see this kind of info.

 

Your problem is you are your worse enemy. When you DM said, "Hey, was you talking on the phone?" and then you said something like "No, BUTTTT I did have it in my hand, but wasn't on it." lol.....
