is this one of the reasons they opted instead of having crew pickup trucks to charter a bus to move them back and forth from the mines??
so they could bring more people in one tripIntothesunset Thanks this. -
Bus option mainly for shop, processing and office personal. They have lot of big repair shops for mine trucks. Shift personnel should arrive all at same time for briefing.
Pickups for contractors. -
That mine truck looks like it incernerated on impact?? That looks terrible.

In 2011 or 2012 we lost good driver on this road. His name was Flint. Really good 32 years old father of 4.
I was delivering to the mine at 7 pm. Weather was as usual for November, temperature 34 - 32 F. Wet and mud everywhere. After unloading went back to Carlin it was between 10 -11 pm. On my way back where road makes sharp right turn noticed my engine start ticking like it was really cold. Checked thermometer, wow outside temperature was -18F. Cold air like river was flowing down the canyon along the road. But road was good just wet. Flint was delivering his load about 3am morning. He went off the road about 2 miles away from I-80. His truck was spotted in the ditch about 6:30 when fog was out.
They said driver felt asleep. How you can fall asleep if you just two minutes ago have to come to the stop sign, shift gears and make right turn, then go thru at least 12 gears to this point? I think road was covered with black ice. That was the reason. Unfortunately he wasn't restrained and was ejected thru windshield.
Year or two before this we have fatality in Wyoming. Driver was killed because he was restrained.

Thank you sir for your input on this thread.
Running loads from mines is a dangerous job. It requires full time attention. My condolences to you and to the family of Flint.Bud A., mjd4277, Intothesunset and 1 other person Thank this. -
Well your number was almost called. So that is a blessing. But some people as myself could fall asleep on any road if on it every day. And local routes do not ever leave you time for a nap no mater if your on log book or RODS. Just my experience.Snailexpress and Lepton1 Thank this.
