Also check if the pulley on the generator is moving around. These generators have cheap bearings and a too tight belt can burn the bearing out.
If you do have to replace the generator they cost about $1600. They aren't too hard to replace by yourself, at least in terms of bolts and wires. They are heavy and really awkward though. Best to get one of those low profile jacks from Harbor Freight. -

I have a carrier pro 6200 that has been throwing Under Voltage message consistently ever since we got the truck with it on. Its got about 13500 hours on it and the message is tripped every time you have the heat turned on. If at low heat, it will trip in about 30 minutes of run time, but if it's in high heat it will trip after 10 mins or less. Also, if you have it in a/c mode, it will run without tripping the message for a whole day, unless the outside temperature is above 80 degrees. As soon as the temp goes above that, the a/c mode will trip that Under Voltage message... I have swapped ccu board, replaced the generator as it wasn't producing voltage, swapped the heating element with the thermo fuses, replaced the generator belt and still this thing won't work as it's supposed to. Also, when the message is tripped, I noticed the Service light is blinking inside the ccu box(not sure if its normal). Any idea what could be causing this? Generator is running very hot by the way - hotter than the APU engine from what I could feel

Its probably overkill and I dont extend the drains on it but i figure these units are expensive and have tough lives .
High heat under a reefer when parked and extreme cold in the winter .
It's cheap to service so i do mine at 20k when i have the truck oil changed ...it will usually have 6 to 7 hundred hours on it .
Cheap insurance.just g p Thanks this. -
We've been running either Rotella 15w40 or Delo 15w40 for years at 1000 hr intervals, no problems, we have one over 30,000 hrs and others close to that.
