The BS level of this career is unbelievable!

Sometimes the BS levels are high enough that you have two choices. Work the situation presented to you, document everything and get it done.

I tried to document everything. However I would certainly walk away from any company that is disaster INC.

IF you ever want a movie that highlights how badly a company can be run with you under the horseshoes of a dead horse by dispatch... I offer you this "The Hudsucker Proxy" It's a older movie but the plot has it's share of problems within the company structure. I will not ruin the film talking about it. But it should be pretty entertaining.

I would have just dropped the wagon and be done with it Nothing illegal going on. If the op didn't want to get out of the bunk, stay there and tell the switch ''the keys are in the ignition have at it'' The new generation is ''all about me'' nobody else matters.

 

Another way to keep this load moving is to have the repower driver log in to your Qualcomm and put him or herself active driver and on duty/drop trailer on your qc and after it’s done they can log back in to their truck. Many possibilities even if you wanna be a lazy umm driver.

 

You ever notice these guys walk around with their heads down to avoid making eye contact? If he’s too afraid to make eye contact, how he supposed to face someone who’s knocking. 2 guys in the truck and both afraid and huddled up in the bed.

In what other industry are people gonna be pounding on your door in the wee hours of the night demanding that you wake up and work for free? OP, you're ###### if you do, ###### if you don't. Be that as it may, the smart move here would have been just to unhook because you're not gonna fix or change anything by taking a stand like this. In some jobs, the squeaky wheel gets the most grease, but in trucking that wheel just gets replaced. And why not? These McMega haulers have hundreds of students going through their training schools each month and they'll simply put another guy/gal in that seat in another week.

 

The new generation was raised and influenced just like everyone else. Consider how it works. Everyone is heavily influenced while they are growing up even though they work hard at trying to make sure the people influencing them never realize it. That's a hard thing in my opinion you as a father get little recognition until your child grows old and wise. I am only just barely beginning to realize how exceptional my dad is. And I can't figure how to show it to him. He just lost his wife (my step mom to cancer a month ago). Everyone loves to knock Millennials for being lazy and never taking responsibility, but the people making the accusations never take responsibility for raising them that way. If they do, I haven't seen it yet.

My guess is that as time goes on, they will figure it out. I was born in 1983. I am not sure if I am a Millennial or not, but I'll stick up for them a little bit. I had a very good upbringing from my parents and they didn't shelter me from losing. But I can understand a bit where they are coming from, a lot of kids. Many are extremely selfish due to being confused and still trying to figure things out because they were sheltered from it growing up. Others just don't have the social skills to communicate it very well. You ask them in person as opposed to asking them in chat and they express themselves completely differently. It's not the kiddos fault technology exists.

 

Don't like it get put of the industry. What other job do you get handed the keys to 120,000 dollar piece of equipment and pretty much just sent around the country? The first time you don't pick up the phone for dispatch, without a #### good reason, you'd be gone from my company. That actually makes me wonder, OP says he's driving a rental car 430 miles home, is getting fired what actually happened?
