I feel like a tiger by the tail at the moment. So many states are tossing evacs tonight. Some will see some form of storm situations by tomorrow this time.
I stake one thing on all the cards... it has to turn. It's wobbly now like always grinding over the Bahamas.FlaSwampRat Thanks this. -
Freeport Bahamas is 400,000 souls more or less.
In the night the Dorian is feared to maybe stop and stay over freeport.
Large areas of Bahamas on videos across the net show essentially desolation back to the 7th century as many strong buildings are ripped apart.FlaSwampRat Thanks this. -
Abaco Island in Bahamas reported 220 sustained, from Dorain. The instrumentation managed to survive long enough I suppose to get this monster into the record books as far as they concerned.
220 sustained. Gusts probably approach 300. Keep in mind the center pipe bridging truss modern constructs are rated for 430 or so so thats something it will take a awful lot to bring them down.
Florida is going over bridges tonight to see which ones they want everyone off for a while.FlaSwampRat Thanks this. -
Bahamas Live Feed, they are sad tonight because certain areas have been erased from our modern technology.
A video showed people trying to get out during the 2 hours the eye passed over. (Calm with a opposite direction of sustained 185 coming at them. It shows that they did not understand the situation and the need to find a hole.
Storm is 275 degrees (Essentially straight west correcting for local compass magnetic devitation) at 7 mph.

Incase you dont know you should be watching the radar for this hurricane.
I have been fortunate not to have had any bad experiences being stuck in something like this before. I've been driving almost 4 years, but hopefully everyone who isn't aware of it can be made more aware from this posting.
Hurricane Dorian.Ezrider_48501, Linte_Loco and x1Heavy Thank this. -
We had a standard breakfast in a local WH this am and it consumed a 20 dollar bill per meal. Hardly surprising.
@Lepton1 would love this... this in near real time to this post.
Winds gust 220 in eyewall 120 at north coast west of there.
FlaSwampRat and Lepton1 Thank this. -
Yes, she is a monster. Laying absolute waste to Bahamas main island towards freeport through the night, sawing them both ways. until at least morning at 6 mph.
Hurricane strength 75+ to 220 gusts extend 45 miles from eye (Eye is about 30 miles wide with a double eyewall)
And trop storm to hurricane winds from about 130 miles in to 45 miles before you reach the eye.
It's about 71 miles from Florida. It settled to a straight course tonight.
It wont turn tonight. In the morning maybe tomorrow into Tuesday.
Wilmington expects 120, Norfolk 110, Savannah landfall expected about 130.
Jacksonville and Orlando 140 these are sustained within 48 hours from this post with recent update.
I'll put up wind charts in the morning, however at a certain speed and above it's a matter of scouring homes to the slab. And drowning those who aint got to the second floor yet.
Those of you with dense skulls and big trucks, keep in mind you probably will be flipped down onto your sides and roof at 65 and higher. My criteria is 60 same as Norfolk CBBT loaded. Never empty above 40.Linte_Loco Thanks this.
