Unfortunately I wasn't paying attention to my mirrors a few days ago while I was in a Shippers terminal, I ended up side scraping a trailer with my trailer because I didn't cut my turn wide enough.

This is my 10th month in the trucking industry.. I'm an OTR driver for a mega-carrior (KLLM)

0 accidents until now.. I was given a 6 minute video on 'turning' and a 10 question pop-quiz after the video as my Safety Training due to this incident. I was also issued 1 safety point against me, by the director of safety.

Will this preventable accident go on my DAC report?

Do safety points usually go away?

Is my career potentially ruined over this, if I search for a job later on down the road?

Yes, it will go on your DAC report.
No, it won't hurt your career.

Let it be a learning experience. Next time, take your time, and Get Out And Look. If the dollar amount in damages is minor, KLLM may just put it as a preventable incident on your record

you will have to make it known on any future applications where it asks you, "any accident or incidents"?

it "could" go on your DAC as an incident, or accident, i do not know the dollar value your employer assigns to damages.

    next time, GOAL......

Scraping a trailer (and not breaking lights or punching hole in the side) is pretty minor and should stay within the company. I would ask other company drivers about the consequences.

The more you learn from small mistakes the less risk you ate at for making big mistakes. I would rank your even more of an embarrassment, not a risk to your job or DAC. IMO

I don't mind a scrape but when you are hemmed in with that thing be slow and easy be all eyes everywhere.

IF YOU ARE NOT SURE... or WORSE... feeling something completely unrelated to your current problem on trucking stop in place and look about on foot. They'll wait. Because they are already waiting to see you do some damage already.

    You follow?
