If your shifter is by your center console just be careful you don't reach down and slam it into park coming up to a stop sign.
Does your 4 wheel vehicle ever go back to feeling like "normal size" again?

It’s not the size that bothers me. It’s the wide right turns that give me away. For the first few hrs in a car after driving the truck I make the widest right turns and get pissed at the people who pull past the stop lines when making a left... even though there is plenty of room for a car... lol

Nope. I havent turned commercial miles since 2008. I still feel the tug of that 53 foot can.
I cringe when ever the wife takes sharp corners and doesnt think about looking to see where the vehicle trackshomeskillet, MACK E-6, Iowa80 and 3 others Thank this. -
Since more and more companies have automatic transmissions, many will never know the feeling of getting use to a clutch in a truck, then getting in their POVs with their auto-trans.
I came awful close to falling out of the seat the first week after getting out of my 10 speed and into this auto shift truck. Many, MANY times that first week, I would reach over and grab the gearshifter that wasn't there and dang near fall over . I had to keep the right armrest down on the driver's seat to help prevent the fall.

While you will eventually get use to it, the longer you are a Class A driver, the less "Normal" your personal vehicle will feel, particularly if you have those tiny cars. It makes sense because you spend more time driving the work trucks.Iowa80, Cattleman84 and lovesthedrive Thank this. -
One of our cars has a clutch and I would start of float my shifts. The big thing was I kept trying to turn the jakes on.

a few years ago, this was our rental in Switzerland. A Citreon Jumpy, had a 6 spd manual. Well I kept trying to "float" my shifts and the thing kept stalling. Took awhile to figure out that it had that automatic stop/start (no idle) feature... That red truck in the background was pretty cool...I watched him park (it was an automatic) but then the frontend "kneeled-down" before he climbed out...88 Alpha, Cattleman84 and lovesthedrive Thank this.

I once tried to shift my car in reverse, when I thought I was getting into top gear. Luckily, the tranny just grinds for a second before I realized what I was doing. I have seen a Nissan 4-wheeler actually achieve reverse gear while accelerating. The nose makes an aggressive dive for the pavement.homeskillet and FlaSwampRat Thank this.
