Don’t know about Volvo, but Detroit’s can be programmed at the dealership and brought to the truck for installation.

then you need to take the truck back to dealer so they can update the CPC and MCM for proper software versions (fuel maps, ...).

If the computer software on the CPC and MCM differ from what Detroit has on record for your current software level. The only time there’s a problem where it has to return to dealership is if the software was was updated or changed by computer that can’t link with the Detroit database.
But again, not sure about Volvo. But it’s possible with other engines. -
Must be programmed or you can buy it already programmed. Sometimes takes extra 1-2 days.

Call manufacturer support and flatout ask. They will tell you at least exactly if you do or not. I do that whenever I really get stuck or need info.Working2party Thanks this.

Not a dealer or store, the actual manufacturer. They should know install procedures. They made it.Mr Bob and Working2party Thank this.

Does not need programming to work if they order by vin should already come programmed.
