hi everyone, I’m just curious, but has Melton quit putting Tripac on their trucks? And what does the big white X across the Tripac logo mean? I’m the APU guy, always forever talking about APUs and of course Tripac is #1!

They quit putting APU’s in trucks last year. The big X you saw is an existing APU that’s been disabled.Lepton1 Thanks this.

What's the reasoning for not having them anymore?
Lepton1 Thanks this. -
Don’t know, I was just a driver, but pretty good guess would be they weren’t cost effective

I heard from a veteran driver at my company they used to have APU's on all our trucks. The problem is far too many drivers idled their trucks instead of using the APU's.snowwy Thanks this.

So the solution to high idle times was to force everyone to idle? Sounds like something a bean counter would come up with.Lepton1 Thanks this.

I don’t know, if I was owner & spending thousands on apu’s & drivers were still idling pretty sure I’d take there toy away. I don’t think that’s reasoning for getting rid of apu’s. If you figure all the maintenance & down time due to repairs on those things I bet they don’t save a bit.Lepton1 Thanks this.
