If the article is accurate, it appears the CT15 uses a CAT block, pan and crank.

As far as I understand (which could be way off lol) is the 13L was based on the MAN engine.
Intothesunset, pushbroom, Wheeljack and 1 other person Thank this. -
Looked up a MXS and BXS crankshaft. Both are the same part number. Sdp has a different part number however.
Intothesunset, Wheeljack and spsauerland Thank this. -
Brand new 6NZ reman from CAT. If you look at the block there is alot of extra ports and bolt holes. Its actually a SDP block. They must only make the one block now to use for everything.
Cummins does the same thing, the blocks now are for a 870-2350, possibly also x15. They come with a fitting kit that blocks off the unused coolant ports the 870 needed.Oxbow, Intothesunset, Wheeljack and 2 others Thank this. -
Interesting. I know those older blocks had extra ports for different arrangments. Even my old 92U 3406 has a few unused bolt holes and blanked off ports.

Love the look of everything in that picture except for the coolant heat exchanger on the transmission!Oxbow, Intothesunset, swaan and 3 others Thank this.

Gotta run em up here. When its -40 its hard to tell if you are in neutral. This truck is heading up north quite a bit.
If you check the oil every service you can usually change the cooler before it shreds the scyncro

That's the truth. I bought a used pickup in my late teens and went straight up to Northern Alberta with it. A previous owner replaced the radiator with one that didn't have the transmission cooler in it. Just had a huge aux oil cooler behind the condensor. After -20 it wouldn't warm up enough to shift into OD or lock the converter clutch. At -35 I'd be stuck in 2nd. Even blocking off the radiator to the point the engine was overheating didn't help. Had to fork out $400 for the proper radiator to make it work lol.

At least it ain't to bad to change out on a Pete with the larger floor access hole vs a KW. Now if they would only keep an access hole open and not covered with flooring on an Ultrashift equipped truck. Had to repin the harness pigtail for rail position sensor on side of road last week and it was all I could to reach it and uncut zipties.

Good or Bad idea, use a NXS block and bolt on 6nz head cam?Intothesunset Thanks this.
