Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Well,as I don't have a laptop to take with me and paying for access at T/S's is too expensive, this will be my last entry 'til I come home in about 6 weeks if anyone cares.
-
Good luck to you and travel safe.
-
Access isn't expensive once those checks roll in. I used to keep annual subscriptions to the wifi at FlyingJ TA and idleaire. And now the broadband cards are coming along pretty well
-
Why don't u use a card from verizion,or sprint. access any where....
-
Hey newlife if you're out there let us know how the job is coming along............
-
well, here it is ,company gave me a company laptop and air card that i have to pay a rental fee on(bupcus).the owner got tired of me calling him at night to find out where a better place to reposition.so now i have access and can make decisions as long as my codriver agrees with where we should go.as far as my codriver goes,he doesn't speak english well at all so there is a language barrier,he's a total slob.i cleaned the truck up real nice when i got on it and he spit sunflower seed shells on the floor later that night!!!I told him I'm not cleaning up after him,it took 6 days before he got the little broom out and cleaned it himself. He can't read an atlas at all so he has no clue that there are roads that trucks can't go on,we have a gps unit but it's only set up for cars not trucks. He relies solely on that gps.I called the owner and complained about this issue,he's gonna go down some country road and kill us if he doesn't pay attention and learn to read an atlas!I was told to try and teach him to read the atlas. How can you teach someone how to read an atlas if the person doesn't want to learn??I feel stuck now because I need a job, can't afford to quit, and don't have enough experience in a tractor/trailer to drive one for this owner. There is still nobody hiring out of MI.so I'm trying to help my codriver understand the atlas and all truck driving rules but he just puts his hands in the air and says forget it.What am I to do??
-
Are you driving a tractor trailer or a streight struck? Does your boss own other trucks? If so maybe he could team you up with another driver. Is Panther keeping you moving or are you having to sit a lot? I wish you well
-
Stick it out till You get Your one Year in. Then You can chose who you will drive for. Good Luck

I'm driving the straight truck because Panther requires at least 1 year in a tractor/trailer to drive a tractor/trailer for them and I don't have that much. This is the only straight truck this fleet owner has so I can't request to be paired with someone else as the other drivers are making more money in the tractors and won't take less money because I don't like my codriver.A tractor/trailer is what I want to drive but I'm stuck because it's a job and can't get a job driving in a tractor/trailer because of where I live.As far as Panther is I really don't care for expediting or team driving as it's required,I think that's too small of space to spend with a total stranger especially if you don't get along. If I ask Panther to pair me with another owner it would be my last chance as Panther only allows a driver to work for 3 owners and then you're done, and this is my 2nd owner. If there's anyone reading this and is looking for a tractor/trailer driver,I'M HERE!!
My experience is little but I want to learn.I've heard stories of owners screwing the drivers out of pay and not wanting to pay for truck necessities(did I spell that right?)so I'm afraid to ask Panther to pair me with another owner and end up getting screwed out of pay and a job if it doesn't work.As far as freight it's so-so,my co-driver doesn't have hazmat so that limits our availibility, whereas I have class"A" with hazmat, tank, and doubles and not using them to drive a class"B" truck!
