I wouldn't worry about points, would worry about being fired.

Going from one rest area to another?

Thats not a proper use of PC, you are stuck at the first rest area until either kicked out or refuse to move, get ticketed and or towed from there. Then the lawyer will have something to work on.

PC is strictly limited to a place where you can get fuel, food, parked lawfully for rest and so on. It is limited to the very first truckstop (Usually) you can get to for the services you require. Loaded or empty matters not as LONG IT IS not advancing in the direction of the Customer of delivery address and state.

One rest area to another is unheard of. I stand on the ticket being correct. Its not how you use PC.

51 miles seems like a lot? I obviously don't know everything or much of anything actually about it but I only use pc for when I drop my last trailer at the building and head to the hotel that's like 13 miles away to sleep. Bobtail so I'm not moving a load, that's what I was under the impression it was for? I could be wrong so someone please tell me if I am.

I understand the "not advancing the load" part. But what if the rest area was the closest available legal parking spot in any direction.

No that is exactly how I used mine. Bobtail.

Have a card in the wallet in my time that says when off duty driver is relieved of all responsibility for load. And bobtail is a company benefit to keep for the weekend or however many days you are off and run around in it like a car. Logbook is kept with the truck but straight "Off Duty" because there is no dispatch or work assigned at all.

ONCE in a blue moon the truck ate the alternator or whatever. The resulting trip to the shop to get it fixed and time working on that (Paying bill etc) becomes recorded as on duty at that location with reciepts of shop mechanics work and counter sign the DVIR as having no defects after repairs are made. Bobtail home as off duty.

I understand there are some in government who finally think that PC is somehow a big conspiracy or loophole that must be stopped. That is a common position from lawmakers working against PC who have never touched a big truck in their lifetime except maybe to ogle it at a truckshow or something. Or curse it on the traffic problem.

PC has worked for generations dating back to and before the 50s I say leave it alone. With just one rule. You cannot drive loaded TOWARDS a customer waiting for that delivery (Past the next truckstop 10miles down the freeway or whatever) You have to pull in that first place which offers what you require in life such as food and so on.

In later years wife and I just bought food and fluids once a month in Laramie WY and we fixed it ourselves for 6 weeks give or take. No need for truckstop other than fuel.

Yes I'm in the same boat. I'm allowed to use the truck for personal running after my trailers are dropped. Within reason anyway, if I wanna leave the hotel and eat in it I can.

Then you go there. And stay.

IF the lawman says you must move now you tell lawman you are on your 34 or whatever it is and will be in violation until a later time for your 11 hours back to legally drive etc. If the Lawman kicks you out with a ticket, then get his badge number and name. And document everything because you are fixing to accrue a nice stack of HOS violations ELD wise. Your company will need this information. You might even be placed OOS.

(I have. But not for busted PC's)

There are no provisions in PC for this. Sucks yes, but that's life. Some one already posted the link to the guidance and nothing there for your situation.

There is only two ways to move under PC that's not 100% personal. One is getting kicked out of Shipper/Receiver and the other is told to move by law enforcement.

All boils down to hair splitting BS. Enough to make a person find another Occupation. I know, go ahead if you can’t follow the rules. I will when I’ve had enough. Drivers need to realize, We don’t HAVE to do anything either. Work by rule, comes to mind. Strictly by the book. Works both ways.
