Back to the situation, what are the conditions of the location. If you can’t see far enough ahead, the distance of the pass, plus a bit more, then your looking for trouble.

While I think both drivers in the situation described by the OP acted very poorly, unprofessional and close to dangerous.

Got to keep your head in the game. Pay attention to your surroundings and the conditions. Always.

I personally, let all the yahoos go, get tangled up with someone else. I stay away from others as much as possible. Too much to lose. Seen too many accidents, involving so called Proffesional TruckDrivers. All it takes is 1 mistake by 1 Driver. I don’t have very much confidence in others, everyone makes mistakes. And no one invoked in an accident, thought it would happen. A walk through the scrap yard, looking inside wrecked Trucks, tells quite a tale.

That wasnt an insult, it was a casual poke in the ribs to try and ease your tension toward this driver. Im not going to argue with you, i have better things to do today. Like anticipating the tv wont go out during the football game. But i assume it wont.

and this carries over (at least it had for me) driving my personal vehicles or motorcycles thru the years.

too many jackwagons out there, to get tangled up with, just going about our daily routines at home.

we need to be aware that accidents in our personal vehicles count against us as well, come job application time, and the interview.
just like we would be in need of a police report for a big truck wreck, we'd need it for our personal vehicles should we wreck.

(as some applications) required in the past.

Was it a legal passing lane?
I find it hard ro belive that you claim he tailgated you for 7 miles or more, and you assumed he would not pas, it sounds like it was plainly obvious he wanted to pass.
It also sounds like you sped up to get momentum to get up the hill, which I have been behind numerous trucks that have done just that.
it is a different deal where I drive, and for the most part there is no passing places marked, but anytime a truck is catching me and we can see any distance at all, I get on the radio and tell them to stay right in it and I will slow if need be, most others do the same when I catch them. Like I said the trucking is way different though.

By the way if he's steps out to pass you, you should not keep accelerating. Let them get by. If your heavy we all understand that we use the down hills to build momentum for the next hill, with the exception of someone stepping out to pass, help them get by its part of being a professional and doing your part to keep the highways safe.
Sometimes we all have to do things which rubs against the grain to make these roads a little safer. That's the difference between a real driver and a steering wheel holder, be better that the average, make the safe decision. the few miles per hour will make little difference in the over all.

Absolutely correct, its not an accident that us old farts at 3 million miles are still rolling, it take an effort.
