Back to the situation, what are the conditions of the location. If you can’t see far enough ahead, the distance of the pass, plus a bit more, then your looking for trouble.
While I think both drivers in the situation described by the OP acted very poorly, unprofessional and close to dangerous.
Got to keep your head in the game. Pay attention to your surroundings and the conditions. Always.

too many jackwagons out there, to get tangled up with, just going about our daily routines at home.
we need to be aware that accidents in our personal vehicles count against us as well, come job application time, and the interview.
just like we would be in need of a police report for a big truck wreck, we'd need it for our personal vehicles should we wreck.
(as some applications) required in the past.NavigatorWife Thanks this. -

Was it a legal passing lane?
I find it hard ro belive that you claim he tailgated you for 7 miles or more, and you assumed he would not pas, it sounds like it was plainly obvious he wanted to pass.
It also sounds like you sped up to get momentum to get up the hill, which I have been behind numerous trucks that have done just that.
it is a different deal where I drive, and for the most part there is no passing places marked, but anytime a truck is catching me and we can see any distance at all, I get on the radio and tell them to stay right in it and I will slow if need be, most others do the same when I catch them. Like I said the trucking is way different though.G13Tomcat, dptrucker, Powder Joints and 2 others Thank this. -
Sometimes we all have to do things which rubs against the grain to make these roads a little safer. That's the difference between a real driver and a steering wheel holder, be better that the average, make the safe decision. the few miles per hour will make little difference in the over all.G13Tomcat and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
