    EVERYONE except oilfield drivers either work under the 70 hour/8 day or 60 hour/7? day time limits. "Local drivers", if they meet certain other conditions don't have to provide logbook records while doing their work/drive times. They still have drive and rest/off-duty time requirements.

    Okay. So, ignore all the well meaning replies already posted because none of them apply.

    BC Hours of Service are the same as NSC Standard 9 (federal rules)

    You can drive a maximum of 13 hours, work 14 in a work shift of 16. If you're on Cycle 1 (most likely) you can work 70 hours in 7 days. You must have 10 hours off-duty each day, 8 must be consecutive and the other 2 can be consecutive or in block of 30 minutes or more. You must have 24 hours off every 14 days. A reset is not mandatory, but is 36 hours if you take one.

    Not exactly. The Act does not state whether a reset is mandatory or not. What it does say, is (emphasis added):

    Cycle reset — off-duty time

    37.16.05 (1) A driver may end the current cycle and begin a new cycle if the driver first takes the following off-duty time:

    (a) for cycle 1, at least 36 consecutive hours;
    (b) for cycle 2, at least 72 consecutive hours.
    (2) After taking the off-duty time, the driver begins a new cycle, the accumulated hours are set back to zero and the driver's hours begin to accumulate again.

    G13Tomcat Thanks this.
