On that note, I'd like to see some hard numbers on exactly how many truck drivers have been sued by another party for tooting the air horn for some kids. Bet that number is small to non-existent.
Is it still okay for kids to arm pump?

That happens pretty often, kids generally are fascinated, by big trucks and like a ride now and then too.
Not to mention, they love to toot the horn themselves. lol
No what we have is a bunch of wannabe drivers that are paranoid of their own shadow.
I am banking on nonexistant, but I did get a well deserved cussing once. This was back in the 70's not long after I started driving, and I learned real quick not to honk the horn at times even when a kid is asking for it. lol -
If that’s true, than that’s certainly one thing you folks up north have over us.
Have you ever heard the Winnebago story? Some character sued Winnebago because he claimed he thought “cruise control” on his RV translated to “auto pilot”.
Nobody could possibly be that dumb. Sounds to me like a deliberate and unfortunately successful attempt at cashing in. -
Heellll yeah! I did it when I was younger so I consider it refreshing.
D.Tibbitt Thanks this. -
My rental Volvo had it on the steering wheel. Hated it.D.Tibbitt Thanks this.

When I was a kid I did the arm pump at every truck I saw on the highway haha, Never heard of anyone complain about that. most truckers are happy to blow the horn for ya
-
I love it. Use to do it when I was a kid

Howdy All,
Heck yes I'll pull the cord for the kids, gives me an excuse to enjoy the sound myself.

I delivered a load once and the man had a mentally handicapped son. The father told me numerous times to be sure I honked when I left because his son was so excited about it. I got turned around after unloading, and got out, picked the young boy up and took him to the truck.
He pulled the air horn numerous times with the biggest smile on his face. The father had tears when I took his son back to him. And yes, I honked some more when I left. Times like that are special.Accidental Trucker, homeskillet, D.Tibbitt and 4 others Thank this. -
That's awesome.
And yes, I always honk for the kids.
