By running it as it is done?
Or by creative logging? Probably best to not answer on an open forum.
I had a quallcomm that tracked all movement. There was no way that you could change the 14 hour rule to help the daily running for the lost dock time. -
we have e-logs so no way to be creative but once again i will say no need to be
-
I would suggest you go to safestat and check out the violations that result in out of service.
You will find many are log violations that exceed the 11 and 14 rule. -
well basically you log off duty or sleeper berth. Then basically you can split your sleeper and there you go make up for your time. There is hardly ever where you get stuck for 8 hours right? If so just take your 10 hour break and have a fresh 11. And for those that have multiple picks they normally have plenty of time anyways where you don't even have to play catch up.
-
In order to split your break, you must stay in the sleeper for 8 hours minimum.
If you are at a dock for 5 hours, then dispatched to another dock in the same city, then you have to be in the driving part of the log and now you have violated the possibility of getting a split break. -
Safestat for who? JCT? Yes I've seen it cuz they post it up on the office walls at the terminal. We do have drivers that don't know how to log. Legal or not they just can't log for some reason. And most of them are recent hires and they have been terminated already. I have been with JCT for 4 years now and I've been trouble free with both DOT and JCT and I don't look forward to getting in trouble. Knock on wood. So yes if you just base it on the safestat thing its just statistics. It doesn't tell you the whole story. Plus you hardly see any JCT trucks involved in any accidents as often as some of these companies that run elogs and stuff. The percentage on them stat sites might be high but we have less trucks on the road so each accident that we have might be three or four for one of these bigger companies.RandolfB Thanks this.

Judging by the numbers, there are more than 3 or 4.
At my last company, the safety director swore all drivers ran legal. They had a bad safestat and when asked about it, they claimed those drivers were new hires and did not understand the log book laws and many were now gone. Even though, I was talking to the last guy that had been caught. As far as her claim that they were new and did not understand logs, they required at least 2 years OTR driving, not students.
Outside of the company when we talked, most of the drivers played with their logs.
I really am not blasting at JCT. I understand what the drivers are doing. I USED to run even harder than the claims made here, before I wised up to the risks involved. -
My dear fellow driver did you disregard the whole second half of my reply? I said if you got more than one pick we normally just spend that day loading and take the 10 hour break and have fresh 11 to drive the next day and don't have to do anything legal.walkinboss Thanks this.
