The part the does that was built to fail after being replaced 3 to 6 months later in test laboratorys in order to repeat business sales.
It cost about $70 each time to replace the entire thing but if you get a packet of O-rings in Lowe's in the plumbing section you can replace it your self with a 3/8 wrench in about 5 minutes for about $2.99 -
Will disconnecting the battery stop the engine?FlaSwampRat Thanks this.

A bunch of years back when I started driving, we were at a 76 truck stop off of 75 I think in Kentucky. That night we rolled in and parked as we have done for the past three or four weeks, we were tired, the owner just opened the sleeper vents and turn on the fans and fell asleep ... he had natural air condition in the truck.
there was some big dude who pulled into the place right before us, going around beating on doors and threatening drivers To shut their truck off. He went to the truck next to us and told the guy he needs to turn the truck off or he would beat the guy and shut it down for him.
So sometime in the middle of the night here pulls in this flat bed truck, parks a few trucks away from this guy and it wakes him up. We heard the big dude yell at the driver and stop in midsentence then we heard nothing more except the truck idling and it stayed idling all night long. We got up at 6, saw the cops there and the big dude still laying on the ground. The story goes that the flat bed driver wasn't going to take any crap from anyone and as soon as the guy approached the truck, he was warned to go away, and he didn't so the driver hit the guy in the face with a bat as soon as he got out of the truck and busted him up pretty good. we left as soon as we could.homeskillet, buddyd157 and truckdriver31 Thank this. -
It's really not your place to control someone else's equipment---unless the driver becomes incapacitated or in case of other emergency.
i would think a scorching note, place on the windshield, describing, in detail, the reasons that you mentioned above, WHY the driver was being inconsiderate, would have a greater effect than unplugging the battery. And would very possibly make the driver question their actions the next time they park.
When i did OTR, i pulled into a 1-2 acre field, yes 1-2 acre. This was oklahoma city. i was pretty much alone and i don't idle unless absolutely necessary. i slept for apparently some time. Next, this one M-F'er pulls up right next to me and jacks the idle up to about 1000rpm. It was a western star. Remind that the field has got to be at least 1-2 acres! S/he (most likely a he, cos girls tend to be more considerate, then again these days....) had the whole dam field to park, but had to pull up right next to me!
Very annoying. i moved.truckdriver31 and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
