Kroger axes hundreds of employees

Here in the South, Ingles and Publix blow away the typical Kroger with quality, variety and friendlier employees.

 

Dollar General/Dollar Tree stores are popping up in areas around central Louisiana that have one only stop light/one gas station. And every Fred’s within 60 miles of these new builds has closed within the last 3 months.

Re Kroger’s, they’ve slowly and steadily been closing stores in my area so not surprised by this news.

 

Fred's all over are going to be closed down. They have been around so long long and were almost an institution is so many small cities.

 

Where I live Kroger bought up the upscale bakers chain about 15 years ago and they have been running it into the ground every since as hy vee , fareway and the spartan nash branded family fare stores run flourish.
In the Omaha area Kroger (bakers) has as many closed stores as open ones and seems to be blind as to what the competition is doing .
I dont think Kroger will be here much longer .

 

Talked with a retired state tax worker few days ago. Said the Boudour family from Senatobia filed for bankruptcy. Older family died out and the kids didn’t have the drive and ambition to keep it going.

Similar situation for another family that owned many businesses in my hometown. Kids were left with them all in good condition, profiting greatly. 10 years later filing for bankruptcy and the father walks out into the street, 70 years old and commits suicide.

 

That is so sad. The work ethic is just not there with the second and third generations. Is it too much affluence now I wonder, and not enough deprivation that make kids so soft? So many of the stores I grew up with went out of business when the big malls came into being. Walmart lowered prices but didn't care to have any actual help to assist you like places such as Sears offered. Now this is being replaced with online ordering cutting out more customer service sectors.

 

Seven in ten wealthy families will lose their fortune by the second generation. That number goes up to 90% by the third generation. The fact is that people become wealthy because they are driven and passionate about what they are doing. That passion does not always get passed down to their kids. If their kids want to go their own way and could careless about the money then so be it.

 

Delivered to a Kroger DC in Cincinnati last year..that place sucked so bad.. seemed like it was built back in the 30's..it was a nightmare. Nearly got run over walking to the office and very hard to get into and so out of date. How can these people not spend any money on their transportation dept? I always liked Korger but it was obvious that all of their money is going to the fat cats up top..no excuse.
