I'd suggest finding a nicer part of socal to live in and bring the family along. I have my authority since I was 32, now 46. I wouldn't bother with owning a truck and having the stress that goes along with it if I was home every night and made 2/3 of what you make.

I don't know if Hansen runs from or to Phoenix but @Banker seems to do great working for them in the midwest. He worked elsewhere as a company driver but he seems to really like it at Hansen as an owner operator.
As far as being an independent , I can say the grass looks greener but it's because it's full of fertilizer.Clockridge86 and Banker Thank this. -
You can still make good income as owner of if you do long haul. However you must consider the time you will involve in finding loads, dispatch, billing orders, accounting, maintenance, repairs, damages, finding replacements if some units don't work out, ifta, permits, registrations, taxes and the stress that comes with all this. And then, you will have slow months (like now) which you will have to save up for. I think you're in a good spot as a driver making that much. But if you want the freedom you can always try it out being an owner of. It up to you as how your time is worth.
