Plain and simple Empire, your truck will be parked as of 01-01-2011. It will not be legal to run on any road in the state of California. I KNOW this, because I live in the San Joaquin Valley, and I am one of the leaders in the fight against CARB.
I'm here for help

I know I'll get crap for this, but I'm considering going with a Werner lease and picking up one of them cheap Freightbangers they sell. I don't have a wife or kids so I can live in the thing if I must.
If my dispatcher tried to starve me out towards the end of my lease, I'll find out where he lives and park in his driveway until he finds me a load. heh. -

On a side note, I meant to suggest that he find a local o/o and drive company in someone else's truck for a while, but I can see how I made it sound like I was suggesting he try to o/o straight away, which isn't going to happen, regardless of how nice his truck is.
I've heard that brokers won't even talk to you without some miles logged. -

Sounds like you can afford to mod your truck anyway, so that's good.
Why not just drive company for 6 months or so? See if you even like driving that much. It will give you an idea what it would be like anyway.
Either way, I hope you get that truck going eventually. Someday, I'll have my own too. -
If you skip the truck issue your back at the reality that with no experience it will be next to impossible to get a lease with anyone. The ins company want have it,sorry to burst your bubble but being from MS like Danc we like to think things through even though some people think we talk funny and are not very smart.
