A couple of them do, like in Perry, IA. Most do not, and it is easy to get stuck there for hours and hours... if not days. I spent two solid days at Waterloo, IA one week!

Trucker You Sit Over Night They live up to their name.!!!!!!

Sitting in alabama for a FROZEN chicken patty load, appointment time 10am, arrive at 9am, go out to the dirt lot half mile away and wait and wait....

Dispatch wants to know what is taking so long,
My answer "this is tyson, they do not care about appointment times, or how long they abuse the driver and the equipment, trailer must be precooled before loading to -10, and it is 100 outside...refer is running high speed continuous. And you the trucking company allow this abuse to continue." It is 2pm now.

I walk back in to ask the shipping clerk for an honest answer on when I will be loaded, and am told "come back after 4pm and ask the 2nd shift."

    I inform dispatch of this.

3pm I am told to put it in door 1, I walk in expecting the ususal tyson loading of hours and hours, but no 28 pallets of product staged and ready to be loaded with two fork lifts loading. Took 15 minutes. Handed me my paperwork, and told me to have a good day.

Dont know what happened in the back ground, but Tyson should respect the appointment time, and when the driver is there on time, should be loaded within a short time, not hours later.

Someone in your office called someone in their office most likely. I had that happen at a Lowe's dc. I got there before my appt, pulled in where they wanted me, untarped, and waited while they unloaded all the trucks ahead of me, started unloading the trucks that came in after me, then went to lunch. I called the office, the office called them, and they came off lunch early to unload me immediately.

They don't care about you, but if someone they think is important starts raising hell about it they get worried.

    Appointment time, yesterday 4pm.
As soon as we got here (3pm) we were told, "go eat, go shopping, whatever, we aren't going to START loading you until 6pm".

Ok, no biggie...we go eat dinner, return at 5:45 pm. We were told, once again,
"We aren't ready for you yet. Go sit in the dirt lot, we'll come get you..."

11:0o pm, we FINALLY get put in a door. Time of departure? 2:45 AM.

Sad part is, as an L/P, we get NO detention pay for sitting for HOURS waiting to get these loads ( I suspect our company does, but they DO NOT pass it along to the drivers! :( )

    ****sigh**** another day, another Tyson...:biggrin_2554:

I pick up at a Tyson in Chicago. Usually I am out of there within an hour and a half, even if I am late. Our company has top priority there and they will force someone out a door to load us.

Super nice people there. Crazy security guard that will talk you to death about the cubs or eatting girls out. Fat guy.

Worst place I've been to is Dawn in Indiana. Takes so long.

I went to the Tyson over at Pasco Washington for a load of lard going to sysco in Boise Idaho, man we sat there for a few hours and does that place ever stink, it was all we could do not to lose the milk and cookies, finally got in a dock loaded and gone, but then you go toward oregon to highway 12 and there is that mineral plant where they make cattle supplements out of fish scales, it stinks even worse than tyson.

Why do you agree to sit around for free like that? Doesn't your time have any value?

Here's something to try. Call up a cab to your house and tell him to sit in the driveway for 5 hours while you goof around inside. See how many are there after 30 seconds let alone 5 hours.

But the Great American Trucker (AKA: Knight of the Open Road, AKA: Last American Cowboy) is expected to do just that.

Well not on my account I can assure you.

Paddington, just for giggles, lets follow through with your scenario. You're at the shipper in the dock, waiting to get loaded, and after 90 minutes of no movement, you go inside and find out that they're "working" on your load, whatever that means. So, back out and stare through your windshield another 90 minutes and then back inside to check and be told by the loader to "just go back to your truck and we'll come get you when it's done". So, at what point do you bail? (remember, your trailers is locked to the dock plate, the security gate is closed) And even if you dropped the trailer and rammed the gate with your tractor, then what? You call dispatch and demand another load pronto 'cuz you're not waiting around for free? Clue me in, I'm curious. :sign3:
