I own an 08 389 pete with only 40K miles. Yesterday the fan clutch engaged and will not disengage. I believe it may be a blown fuse. But, the fuses on the drivers side floor board do not shown a fan clutch fuse. Anyone know where this fuse is. Or, anyone have an idea what could cause it to stay on?
Thanks
fan clutch

I know you wish it is a fuse.
The bad news is this is a potentially expensive fix. The good news is this is a problem you can put off for a while, but you'll lose fuel economy and horsepower until you do it. Replacement will cost around $1400 likely. -
No way it should cost $1,400. You don't say what brand it is, but for example a full rebuild kit for a Horton was under $300 last time I looked. And the problem is most likely electrical, which should be even cheaper. Get a wiring diagram, or just use basic diagnostic skills to trace things out til you find the problem.
I hate to preach negativity.............but you really oughta know stuff like this before you buy a truck. -
who cares. it has 40k miles. it should still be under warrenty.
it's no fuse though, the fan is air operated -
Not so on my Pete Al
The fan is engaged by air but a 12vdc valve tells it when to come on
The last time I did my norton the kit was $312.00
If the valve fails it will cause the fan to stay engaged (a good thing) -
Ok kit maybe. I keep forgetting you guys know how to do things
-
I disagree. It's great that you know how to fix trucks, but if we had to know how to fix things before we bought them we wouldn't own anything. Truck shops are everywhere for a purpose. Just like small appliances, large ones, electronics, we don't sew our own clothes either. This paragraph could literally never end.
I can play guitar like Eddie Van Halen but couldn't fix one to save my life. Still brings tremendous joy and utility. -
We just bought a rebuild kit for our's last week alot cheaper ($300) and should last more according to our part's guy.
-
That's what kenworth told me then the next day we visited our Mexican friend's and 300 for a rebuild that will last longer. We even got it installed in the front yard.
-
ya, them shops are around everywhere to fix stuff for company drivers
