There are articles dating back a few years .
People say well kenworth said
Lol you think they would rather sell a glider than a new that's on the lot.Intothesunset Thanks this. -
There is local guy who replaced his 2008 Isx with n14, painted it red and has been driving like that for over 5 years. It's the same as running deleted trucks, illegal, but it's a very slim chance to get caught

I believe and hate the words you spoke

Im pretty sure KW still sells gliders unless they quite just recently. I looked at 4 last week. And purchased one Monday.

They reached 300 unit count gotta wait for new year . unless decision made soon.

If rule passes will be plenty to get from dealer . either built or build yourself.

The 300 quota is per builder, and that’s if they built 300 or more in 2014. It’s not per manufacturer.
And yes FET is supposed to be collected on a glider of the price is 75% or more than the price of a new truck of same spec. So when you can buy a 389 off the lot for $165k and Fitz is selling gliders for $140k then yes, they should have been collecting FET. And that’s why they owe $83 million. I believe it started out at $64 million and has gone up as they’ve dug through their paperwork.
Really Fitzgerald only has themselves to blame. Gliders were never meant to be assembled in a mass production type scenario. They exploited a loop hole and got everyone’s attention. And now with all the junk motors they’ve put out the last few years I doubt many people are sympathetic to their current plight.Blue jeans, Studebaker Hawk, Tb0n3 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Lots of other builders too

Right, and a lot of them that popped up the last couple years can’t assemble any now because they didn’t assemble any in 2014. Peterbilt in Sioux Falls is one that comes to mind. Turned out some real nice gliders the last couple years but had a big goose egg for 2014 so they’re done.
Personally I don’t care if there are gliders or not. With the prices they bring it doesn’t make sense for me to run one. But I put the “Gliders will always be around” group right next to the “ELD’s are going to get overturned” group.
