1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

I am to the point that I have called local companies like stone companies, recycling companies, etc and have told them that I would almost drive for FREE.:biggrin_25525: So with that said I will say it again, I would consider driving in the evenings or weekends FREE just to get in a truck... Send in the offers.FREE,FREE,FREE.:yes2557:

i don't think you need to drive for free, nor should you drive for free.

What if you get hurt? The employer (and they should be shot for going along with it) might say, he was off the clock so no workman's comp. Now your more screwed. You can't work even if a paying job comes along.

    Are you willing to move?

Shesus.. I hope you are kidding but if not, how about this - work for no less than .50 per mile and demand a $20+ per hour rate for all ancillary work performed for the company such as drops, hooks, fueling, wait time etc. There are many jobs like that out there - we would prefer to keep it that way. It is fools like you who devalue the driver and the industry as a whole. A FedEx P&D driver put it the best on another thread, "why pay a line-haul driver .55 when some knucklehead will pull it for less than .40 in a van", and you'll do it for free? Some of us prefer to make 80-90K per year rather than work for free. I make it a point not to get personal but this crosses the line. Take your one year and get lost dude.

    Go to this thread:

    http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...cking-jobs/82564-drive-for-free-new-post.html

This subject was beat to death and in this thread you'll understand why it won't work and some alternative suggestions you can try.

Over the years there has been a steady decline in driver pay. Why? More and more drivers willing to drive for less. Now for FREE? Before long we'll hear, "Driver willing to pay YOU to let me drive your truck." This is a profession, not a hobby.
