    May also want to scrape the powder coating off on the underside of the metal plate where the antenna stud makes contact, I have found that it improves swr.

    Ok, so I have replaced everything brand new and still the same thing. Tested the ohms and that all checks out. Still not getting any movement on the set meter on channels 1 and 40. Channel 19 when I key up and adjust the set knob it will move to about 1.75 and when I flip the switch it drops to the bottom of the scale. I tested with my tips ran all the way down and then I ran them almost all the way out and nothing changed.

    Well, after all the BS I went through, it turned out to be a bad brand new radio.....
