When I first started driving trucks in the early '70s I started with a company that only had trucks with two sticks. I didn't even know that air shifted trannies existed until I had been driving for a couple of years and the company bought some trucks with thirteen speed trannies in them.
Needless to say I didn't know how to shift the thirteen speed and had no interest at the time in learning how so I stuck to my old Dana Spicer Married 4X4! The first tractor I ever bought had a 1693 Cat and a Dana Spicer 4X4 in it and I ran that truck for about 7 years before I replaced it with a new one in the early '80s.
I still love those old two sticks but you really don't see them anymore.
Who here has driven them and did you like or dislike them?
I'm just curious to know who's really old school...
Any old two stickers here?

My experience with 5X4 trans, i thought they were a great off road transmission. Give me a Roadranger for highway work, any day...

Learned on a 1956 B 61 5+3 the memories are cool. with the amount of power available today theres no need for aux trans. would like a chance to see if i could still shift one though.

Mid 70's kw 900a with a worked over big camII and a 10x4 with 4.56 rears on 24.5 tall rubber. Why a 10X4 I don't really know but it was once there heavy haul truck.I can say it was fun to drive and you couldn't get the #### thing stuck...sometimes I wish I had a brownie box in my truck but I guess I don't really need a 13x4.

I am only 26 but I learned on a 5 and a 4 or a 6 by 4 but I Drive a 07 KW T800 tridrve in the oilfield and do all of our heavy haul and my truck has an 18 and a 4 you wouldn't beleive all of the combinations of gears that you get and all of the bottom end you have when you are trying to lift off with 200k lbs.

I hear ya Paul...My current ride has a thirteen speed and a 535! It's an easy ride to go on now. A friend of mine has some old antique trucks and I occasionally get to take one for a spin...It keeps me in practice. I haven't driven a two stick over the road since the late '80s but if they were still in common usage I would buy another one in a heartbeat! I'm one of those guys that actually liked them!
