Well, I posted this just to get the word out. I drive flatbed. Was sitting here watching as events were happening. And thought if anyone was around this area. Come by but know what up here. . They were laying in wait. Turning off a few reefers that were sitting in parking lot. I'd never seen this before driving 6 yrs. And being out here I see alot of things...FlaSwampRat and Rideandrepair Thank this.

That’s harassment for sure. It’s that kind of stuff that really makes you mad.

It has been quite a few years, but the manager at rips in moriarity NM was letting dot on the lot and was waking drivers up, checking logs and such.
This was a short lived practice, as soon as the old man found out about it the dot was banned from his lot, from what I understand.
I know TX dot started messing around at the old little fuel stop on the corner of 287 and 83 at childress Tx, and Linda the gal that run it for years jumped right down their throats, but that place and Linda has been gone for years.FlaSwampRat Thanks this. -
Who was turning off reefers? Sorry, but the longer this thread goes, the more i am pulling up my pants legs. Something is getting deep.
How many drivers did you actually see rousted out and hassled? CHP know the law. They aren't going to do something they will blatantly lose in court.roshea, Rugerfan, FlaSwampRat and 1 other person Thank this. -
Parking lot had around 30 or ? So trucks sprawled out in the lot. The reefer I'm referring to had been left there apparently. I've been doing round trips in the area for three days now. And reefer is still there. Ticketed and remains off. All I was doing in posting this is to put it out there. Just a heads up. That's all. That's what I thought we did for one another. There's no booby prize here. Lol.

I don't doubt you saw what you saw. But instead of the CHP, DOT, setting up inspections did they just pull a guy in off the highway that looked out of compliance and the truck stop lot was the safest place to park?
And...while they were at it did another truck ask them for a measurement to insure he was in compliance? They'll do that when asked as a favor.
Maybe what you saw wasn't everything that was actually going on.mpd240 and Diesel Dave Thank this. -
No, I had been sitting waiting for load info. For at least 2hrs. Saw chp first pull in by scales. Just sat there. 10 min later I noticed the undercover sitting by fuel station. Officer had gone into the store. Both vehicles sat for about 15 minutes. At that time both vehicles circled the parking lot. I thought they were searching for someone in particular. But that wasn't it. Spoke to one driver. Then the Chp parked his vehicle approx 5 cars down from me. Got out and began checking out 2 reefers. Parked side by side. One was on. That's the trailer he shut off and taped a citation to it. I then noticed the unmarked car parked in row behind me . Chp moved his in front of my rig. Got out and measured trailer next to me. After that they approached
Nope, I watched them pull into parking lot and sit there for 10 plus minutes before . There was no organized inspection area. Just cruised the lot and approached random trucks. I was two spaces away from them. Watching the whole thing ... I was curious as everyone else there was. . The reefer had been dropped off and as of today is still there with citation still taped to it and still off. Can everyone just knock it off.! I'm not your enemy but just another driver that's amazed by such tactics. Simple as that is. No one needs to make this #### up. Are you done assuming now..?
