My guess would be 1.40 per mile for all miles. That's just a guess. I'd say the average owner op out here in a big truck that works full time does around 100k miles a year. Maybe hotshoters running fulltime are doing that many miles also. I dunno... $300k a year in a hotshot is not happening though LOL.

Got it. Is it accurate to say where hotshots lose in revenue they make up in maint. cost and overhead? Tractors produce more overhead but from what I've seen have absurd maint costs. At the end of the day is seems hotshots and the big boys come out pretty close to even as o.o. I feel like I'm missing something obvious to the vets here. Can big rigs gross $300+k with avg $1.30 load?

Are you in the industry currently, do you have a lot of years in the industry and see patterns of high and low?
Just asking because of all the AI self driving trucks discussion currently going on wanna know your thoughts.
TIA -
Currently in the industry for roughly 13 years. Last year was a big high. Which helped create the big low it's in this year. Way to many trucks out here fighting for loads. My personal opinion is that it will stay like this for a long while. It seems that people are just continuing to pile into trucking no matter how bad that rates are. Or how much of a lack of freight is available to go around.
I did read an article today about self driving trucks getting a big push. I wouldn't be surprised if they are out here a lot sooner than people are predicting.
But regardless physical truck drivers will always be needed. -
I agree about way too many people piling into this industry regardless of the low rates .
