I actually have a great relationship with DOT. But not FMCSA. DOT, in a Port of Entry, flat out told me that they have nothing to do with all these points and csa scores and psp. All that with FMCSA is a brat step child that DOT doesn't like one bit. It is funded by the Mega's. Aimed at taking responsibility off the companies. Put it all on the drivers. DOT don't like it.
I"ve had an unusually high amount of experience with DOT. Reason is I worked for a very good company. But from the Terminal Managers on down was a joke. Didn't fix diddily on trailers. Registrations, fees, etc. I was always dealing with things. DOT was very good to me. There were things that were simply between DOT and the company. DOT would hide that from these reports with the FMCSA and all that. In Oklahoma they did. They made it an "Administrative Action".
I have the greatest respect for DOT themselves and a great relationship with them.
I have seen the same in Highway Patrol.
Seems everybody knows about this point system and how it works. They don't like it. -
What can you do about it nothing. There are rules in almost anything you do.
