Truck Engine

Great idea, in fact why not go the whole hog and put a marine C32 (aka 3412) in it, factory delivered 1800HP at 2300RPM, might be a bit heavy over the steer though.....maybe just a little bit heavier on fuel than the C16 too.

 

I would stay away from those engines, i have driven a few of the smaller hp ones. 370's. The jakes, well they basically are non existent. They come standard, but you could stop better by dragging your feet.

 

I sit around and BS with some guys that run them in company trucks, they said they are great motors for local trucks that spend as much time idling as they do driving, but they say they are just pitiful on the road, but they get good mileage working as a power unit for a tanker on short hauls.

 

We ran several in our fleet. They were fuel efficient motors and pulled surprisingly well. They get very tired once they pass 500,000 miles. So my suggestion is to use them in lower mileage applications so they can last a while.

We will probably replace our daycabs that have MBE4000s with the new Detroit Diesel DD13. That looks to be an outstanding engine.
