Most rider policies for kids start at 12 is you're biggest hurdle.
Then there is don't ask don't tell.
But you can never spend too much time with your kids. Even if most of it is riding around the country.70’Nova, jraulpilot1998, Cabinover101 and 5 others Thank this. -
I don't see how homeschooling would work.
The education in todays system is more advanced then what we had.
How do you homeschool your kids in basic math which was the most advanced class when we was their age?
A few were taking algebra. Not many were taking trigonometry. Which seems to be basic math these days.
Typeing?
Today, that typewriter comes with a screen. And needs lines of code to function.
It's one perogative to homeschool. But homeschool can't teach what regular school can. And the kid will be seriously behind the curve in knowledge.
And job prospects will be hard because they don't have proper education.
Example. The military won't take you without a high school diploma. Or equivalent.
How about college? What if she wants to be a doctor or lawyer.Midnightrider909 Thanks this. -
Funny you say that. The way they are teaching my daughter math couldn't be any more different than what we learned. 8 years old and I struggle helping her with her homework and math was always my strong point in school.
I thought I would it's showing the work that I struggle with, they do it completely different now.70’Nova, Cabinover101, tscottme and 1 other person Thank this. -
My kids were homeschooled. Although not in a truck. Their education was as good as public school if not better and without the liberal indoctrination.
one is now 40 with 4 kids who are home schooled. She also is a freelance editor for books and magazines
the other has a BA in history and teachers certificate. He plays poker for a living but if he decides to quit that he can go be a history teacher.
As far as math, I’ll put both of them up against you and I’ll bet they’ll do better7-UP, starmac, Cabinover101 and 6 others Thank this. -
I don't

Telling someone how to raise they're children is like a zebra telling a lion how to raise it's cubs.

I don't get the resistance to homeschooling. Kids these days live in a virtual world anyways, where much of their socializing is from social media...so what's your point?
School used to be about preparing kids for adult life. Now it's about _____?
More & more, the answer to the question "What do you want to be when you grow up?" includes stuff like "be a youtuber" and "pro gamer".
In my generation & younger ones, the % of people who want to & are willing to live a real life keeps dropping.
Why aren't we pursuing the root of the sickness, instead of trying to pick the thorns off the branch?7-UP, Cabinover101, PoleCrusher and 3 others Thank this. -
Home schooling in a truck may not be a good idea. But home schoolers are usually far beyond similar public school students. The performance of home schoolers prove public school necessity is a myth. We can argue if home schoolers are better students because their parent(s) are involved in their lives or they study better materials, but it's well established they outperform public school students academically.7-UP, Cabinover101 and PoleCrusher Thank this.
