Oh yes...I know this. I have shifted a load of shiny bar before...thank God it was on a step deck. RV stopped in front of me...stopped, on the interstate. (I 10 in LA)
That was before I had been taught the right way to secure shiny bar...I didn't know any better. Actually I had it secured right...I just didn't have them set up against the step on the trailer...that was all I did wrong. (but it was enough)
That said...when it was all said and done, the shiny bar was all snug up against the step.
ETA: 42,000 lbs of steel slamming into the step can shove a truck about 20 feet forward...with the brakes on.cpassey Thanks this. -
This load, permits were required for OK, TX, NM, AZ, and CA.

I saw the wreck in birmingham last summer or the summer before. Just west of 65. Killed the driver. Load of 4x4's all came thru the cab.

10' 2" to be exact.....UT DOT at St. Geo were the only ones who stopped me...Had to shut down on account of darkness....
-
Yes sir......
That was the site of the old Kaiser Steel plant btw...... -
-

-
HaHa...I bet they do, don't blame em either.

No bulkhead on the trailer, or a headache rack on the tractor....no thanks.....
I'm seeing a lot of "flatbedders" going this route......Not legal and #### sure not safe.....
