    If you have a cdl and you get a ticket for 15mph over the limit in a non commercial vehicle does it count as a serious offense? According to the PA DMV fact sheet it would only count if it was in a work or school zone.

    I saw that. But it is for the personal car. When they run the license and find cdl it is up to them.

    Note the one under, Reckless Driving as determined.

    It says "driving recklessly, as defined by state law". According to the block on top, 15mph over the limit in a non-CMV by a CDL holder only applies as a serious offense if it occurs in a work or school zone. The fact sheet apparently does not apply to anyone who does not have a CDL. But then again, the whole thing could be a typo. Maybe even the toll-free number at the bottom that you can call for more information.

    The problem here is you are looking at what the disqualification for the CDL is. You need to be considering what the insurance companies are requiring of the drivers. They do not always agree.

    If you get or got a 15mph over and you have a cdl you better get a lawyer and get it reduced or you mihg tjust find yourself out of a job in these times.

    In PA if you pull your MVR, which you can do online for I think $10, it will show speeding 15+ over, with an "n" placed in CMV box.

    All the companies (read insurance companies) that I know of do not look at speeding any different in a POV. Speeding is speeding to them.
