After 30 years of driving I was diagnosed with skin cancer on top of my left hand and arm , it is not fatal as of yet but without Dermatology treatment it could , my doctors down at the VA blame it directly on my window sun exposure , as my right arm and hand are fine.
What do you do to protect yourself from the sun , I've seen drivers use baby shades , etc.

That's a lot more common than you think, I wish you luck with that. Arm out the window should be taught in truck driving school, um, sunblock maybe?

i don't. i pretty much kept my arm in the truck, not hanging out. also i drove at night time.

but even in my personal vehicles, nearly all of them have had some sort of factory window tint.

can't say the degree of tint they have had however.

maybe wear long sleeve shirts, or maybe some sort of arm sock or sleeve..?

these have an SPF of 30

Some people have a cloth sleeve made to slide over arm, if not wearing long sleeves.

I keep a long sleeve shirt and use it when necessary, or I pull my curtain over my driver's side window and just leave a gap wide enough to see out of my mirror. When it's coming in the windshield, I just wear the long sleeves. Nothing covering my hands, but I've been thinking about getting something. My arms are already wrecked from years of fishing, so I'm due for a checkup from the dermatologist.

If I get it will be me. I hung out the window going west bound so many times. Or fried in the sun.

Wrinkles showed up at 38 mid 50's now and seeing the first spots which will be permanent. If it's a problem we chop it out and call hospice. Ive other problems to worry about than long term illnesses I wont be around for.

From what I understand is, the windshield blocks harmful rays and the side windows do not.
