So by regulation drivers are in violation. Do companies get fined too? They must not. Otherwise they might have a lot more concern about all this.

It's past 8 days.
So some of you'alls QC is still Busted. Kaput. It's dead jim. etc.
13 #### days. -
I'm hated for...knowledge of the law?
Being right?
Fines are coming. FMCSA isn't going to give drivers or companies leniency because Omnitracs hasn't updated their hardware. There are other ELD's.
And there are tons of other service providers who didn't miss a single beat for even a second because of any of the GPS rollovers - because their devices are made of newer hardware that wasn't effected.
Omnitracs needs to be dropped. Companies and drivers need to use one of the other FMCSA approved ELDs. There are a lot of them. Being on paper logs longer than 8 days because Omnitracs isn't adequate is not going to be an accepted excuse. There are other ELDs.
Go out of service, or get another ELD connected to the truck that works. By law that is what's supposed to be done. -

It's maddening.
Usually right when I need it (entering info for an LTL stop).
Fortunately I'm on an IVG system, so it's keeping proper recordings, but it's driving me nuts.sevenmph, mjd4277, D.Tibbitt and 1 other person Thank this. -
Bring in a shaman to sing and pray over the thing while you have a nice meal. When you come out you will either have electronics or not. I'll say a prayer for your good fortune and success today.sevenmph, jammer910Z and mjd4277 Thank this. -

As I thought 2 years ago when I was introduced to qualcomm: it's garbage. This problem is not fixable in any Omnitracs device. Because they use old, obsolete, garbage hardware. -
So the fix is to use one of the other nearly 600 compliant devices. And the fact that there are 600 other registered and compliant devices is why FMCSA and DOT will have no mercy on drivers who are using alternate (paper and app) ways of logging HOS further than 8 days.
The answer: Get a new ELD other than Omnitracts connected to the truck. If you're past 8 days you have to OOS until you do.
Omnitracs is not capable of fixing it. And companies aren't going to buy other devices if they have fools that think a letter from Omnitracs that basically admits they know their devices and system is garbage is going to make a DOT inspector let them go.
A piece of paper from a device manufacturer and service doesn't overide Federal Law.
Fines are coming...very likely. -
If you followed Corporate QC Update Briefs you will discover that three or so models of QC is pernamently bricked after the FIRMWARE update after Feb 2 midnight.
When you update any computer prior to a deadline using the firmware updating, you CANNOT interrrupt power to it in any ay.
Warnings have been sent for those three particular models of Qualcomm The fleets could have had a opportunity to update everyhintg prior again to Midnight Nov 2nd.
But nope. Bricked.
Those older models of QCs in my opinion are well and truly trash. Throw them away, install upgraded and newer qulcomm saellite comms.
Additionally in another Thread on TTR QC has briefed anyone and everyone showing interest that they seek a extension from FMCSA for the entire USA and it is possible that QC is standing between DOT-FMCSA and all working truckers and everyone's violations.mjd4277 Thanks this.
