What is your budget for getting out there and holding over til the paychecks start coming in? Are you moving out there, or are you going to maintain your current home while away? -
Well Scott, it comes down to the wire like it always does..lol. Ipretty much need a job asap but my bills are covered for Oct. and partially for Nov. I'm going to take my camper(the kind that goes on the back of a pickup 9 ft) I hold a mortgage to my house here so ya I will be maintaining ,financially, this place as well. My other half will be staying here as she starts nursing school the same day that I roll out. So in a since she will be maintaining the house and keeping the dog alive while I'm gone. It is going to be tough for sure on both of us no doubt. But this past 14 months I have been doing the OTR thing and my last tour of the country lasted just over 2 months. Dang it was a long one too. So with that being said we are both kinda sorta used to me having to be off doing what needs to be done to KEEP that blasted mortgage. Now days I sure wish that I wouldn't have bought and just rented, but it is a beautiful place and nice out here in the forest, so whatever.I dont have a huge budget but if need be I do have a huge credit card. Not that I want that as an option, but if need be. I plan on living out of my camper for a while as it is self contained and really its is a whole lot more comfy than the Cascadia was so I think I,ll be fine. As long as I can come up with something that I dont have to drive it back and forth to work everyday and can find an RV park that has sewerthat will be key. I will see about the man camps or see if I can come up with somee 300$ POS to commute with.
Truthfully I feel like I don't have much a plan but I going pretty well prepared with all the fine things that makes roughing it a bit more enjoyable.
Believe it or not but the people on this forum whether directly or or indirectly have been a TON of help. I think I've read every last word on the oil field forum and plenty of other stuff. Read ,read ,read. Almost every question that gets asked on this forum has an answer not too far away. That wasn't necisarilly directed at you I was just saying. because as you and most people here know, someone signs up and fires off with a bunch of Q's and the answer was on the previous page. ( I'm probably guilty as well ....ha)
Ok back to my plan.....get down there beat the hell out of the doors and see what happens. I will either make it or lose everything that I own ...it's that simple. what a plan huh....
I'll keep ya posted. -
