im interested in flatbedding in the future, i just wanted to see what everyone thought about Roehl FB? Seams like i hear most good things about the van division , so i cant see it being to much different...
is there an age restriction at Roehl?
ill be 22 in 2 weeks, ive been looking at Maverick or TMC when i turn 23 , but i like to keep opionions avaliable...

Well, regardless of the many and varied opinions of Roehl found throughout the site, there are, I think, 3 Roehl flatbedders here. Bucksandducks is a FB trainer, myself, and Cmoore. We seem to be much more content with Roehl than those who drive vans.

If I remember correctly, you have to be 23.

Moriarti, does Roehl flatbed make many runs through Arkansas? I am moving to central Arkansas in a few months and am considering applying with Roehl under the Honor Program. On my many trips home, I have seen about 2 Roehl flatbeds and about 500 Maverick trucks running down I-40. I am leaning more to the flatbeds because I like a little manual labor now and then. I prefer to be long haul and out most of the time, but when I do get down time, I would like to make it back to Arkansas. Does Roehl go out west much? Thanks for any information.

We were, I'm not sure if we still are, the top flatbed carrier in the country. New flatbedders (and usually experienced guys too) go to a three-day load securement coarse in Gary. If you are an inexperienced/student driver don't expect to go to far West until after at least six months. You'll bounce around the Mid West a lot, maybe go South now and then. I've been to Arkansas quite a few times both delivering and passing through. I have to agree with Moriarti, the flatbedders usually are pretty happy here. I think it's a more laid back fleet. Most of my grief comes from the van and reefer planners. Headaches aside, it is nice to be able to pull anything if freight is slow. Also, you can't go directly to Curtainside Division either unless they changed that.

I see Roehl vans in NY often. Ive only seen one flat bed once on 95 going north.

I split my hometime between Florida and New York. We have shippers in Lackawana and Courtland that I know for sure. I have talked to several other flatbedders in NY too.

Hey DR V I used to run lackawana and oswego. Might have crossed paths.

Freight a little slow but Roehl is a lot better than most companies, they do what they say and are really helpful to the new hires Power of Red.They have Flat bed curtain sides and vans as well reefers
