But we have hauled for a lot of owner ops and small company's so you learn some stuff from those guys.

I was the same way, I'd go with my dad or uncle and think that experience actually meant something. I'd wrench on their big cams and silver 92s and think I knew those engines. Hell sometimes I'd even load up a dozen or loader and personally drive it to the jobsite. I thought that meant I knew how to operate a truck. It wasn't till I was the one driving the truck, paying for the fuel and buying the parts that I figured out I didn't know ####
Morale of the story: until you are the one paying the bills, you don't know crap. What you do have is a small advantage over the typical company driver that wants to be an owner operator. That advantage is great cause unlike most you won't view wrenching on a truck as done big scary under taking.
Like my dad used to tell me when I was your age. Talk less, listen more.Last edited: Nov 18, 2019

I was thinking the same thing. With those payments, id assume decent equipment that doesnt require an overhaul every year. Wow.
Insurance is high your first year but not that high.
I do wonder how dat would compare to landstar if anyone has numbers. -
Upinsmoke, spyder7723 and Tug Toy Thank this.
