Rgn slide outs

I would have to check what my trailer says but the farther you pull it out the less it is rated for but I have never had a problem with them yet

 

Had a piece that was 14 wide, 27000k, supported on 4 slide outs only. And they were all the way out. They’re pretty strong.

 

Not the same thing, but... comparing the "strength" of cast iron, like the swing out cast iron outriggers... There is a wide range of cast iron, but typically its considered to be around a 40,000 yield. Some tempers of aluminum can be over 35,000. Doesn't take much more aluminum to make it stronger than the cast.

 

What you're actually comparing is the load rating of 2" oak vs the aluminum pullout. I'm guessing the aluminum wins.

 

You're not going to use the pull-outs for a crate. They're for wheels and tracks. Anything that will sit flat on the deck just hangs over, unsupported, usually.

 

How do you figure?

 

I've seen a LOT of planks break while the cast iron outriggers were fine.

 

The difference between the cast and aluminum is the leverage applied because of the way the are extended. The swing outs are braced top to bottom the slide outs when slid out don’t have much inside the beam and they can bend easier.
