Alright so I have a freightliner fld 120 from 95, it has a 60 series Detroit diesel 11.1 cubic inches.
On the road my turbocharger broke, things that happen. Anyways I scanned the whole line from the air intake to the Engine and took some to clean.
Later I did the oil change and found some particles stuck to the engines plug magnet. And I found this(the picture)
Truck particles (photos link)
Should I worry?could it be just a part of the turbo blade that broke?
Any help is appreciated.
Found particles of metal in Engine, should I open it or not.

I can't help you with this problem.
If you can post your picture in this thread, some people don't like to open links, could be a virus.
Good luck -
Looks like a thrust bearing of some sort. Maybe from the turbo as I dont think there is anything else in the engine with that small of a shaft. But since it was stuck to the magnet that means its steal.
tank4life Thanks this. -
I have doubts that those parts came from the turbo. Those are some pretty big chunks to fit through a turbo center section and down the drain line. I've been wrong before though.
If you pulled an oil sample and found it to be relatively clean (no excessive wear particles etc) then maybe yes to possibly being the turbo.
Did you cut open the oil filter and check for metal flakes and debris?
Myself, I'd be leary of running it. At a minimum I'd want to drop the pan and pull the valve cover to check things over. Those are some bigger chunks its shedding. -
Thanks for the help y'all. I'll have to drop 2k then and see what the problem is with the engine. It has had some leaks through the seals for a while so sooner or later I would have to do it. (Don't let the DOT know (I clean it all the time so it's not greasy)
I Guess sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do, no shortcuts. It's really rough because I already spent 1k on the turbo but thats the owner-operators life. Alright thanks for the helpLast edited: Nov 23, 2019

The last 3 pictures are of a bolt thats been snapped off. It definitely came from inside the engine. The top ones where definitely against something that rotated. To small to be bottom end parts so I’d start by pulling valve covers and checking out the valve train.

have you developed a misfire or Jake performance issues recently?
KB3MMX Thanks this. -
The curved part looks like the center of a main bearing.
It's hard to tell because there's no reference how big it is.
