Thanks Nanny, Road dog. I realize the drawbacks to trucking altho im sure I have'nt figured them ALL out. As I have stated before I'm used to making a certain amount of money and I'm not finding it here in central Fl. They dont pay poop here and if your lucky enough to get a good paying job they expect you to be a Leonardo Davinci of whatever it is. Not to say I dont do my best because I do every time I step on the job but mostly, thats not good enough. It's pretty sad. I am a carpenter by trade and worked in the Hamptons mostly. Then when I come here they expect better work than that for half the money. I took one job for $10 hr after getting $30 hr and he was'nt happy with me! Wadda you expect to get for spit?!

So I need to move on because I need to make better money than that and also, it's an insult to work for that money from a guy that wouldnt know the difference between a plumb cut and a seat cut.

Plus its not forever, trucking that is. I wanna work long enough to buy a piece of land in the Carolinas, build a house that I pay for as I go and end up mortgage free. I figure I could do it in about 5 years and then I can take it easy. Which is where Roehl comes in with thier 7 on 7 off program.

At least its a plan. I heard something. "People dont plan to fail, They fail to plan". Without a plan you dont know where you're going.

If you're interested in flatbedding, Maverick is a good company to work for. I'm 90% sure they hire out of your area too. There's some hard work involved but you're not going to find a better pay scale for beginners. $.35/mile for 6 months and then $.39/mile until you hit 12 months.

The securement and the tarping is what turns most people away. It's not that hard but being out in the elements while doing it can get annoying.

Otherwise, all 3 of your choices sound good. My cousin works for Schneider and he says they are pretty decent. Not the best paying or the highest miles but they'll treat you fair. I almost went with Roehl but I wanted to be home every weekend so chose Maverick instead. I don't know anything about CFI.

I will finish school soon and I am looking at three companies currently.
Glad I got to go under WIA. I am located in Madison, AL

    HO Wolding
    McElroy Truck Lines (Flatbed)
    BTC (Flatbed)

All three have the promise of getting home every weekend. Of course the flatbed companies have better starting pay but I would like some info on what i might be getting into. Thanks

I called Werner and they told me that I would have to be put on a waiting list for that run. They would not tell me how many people are already on that list. But until a position comes open 2-2 1/2 weeks out with 2 days home. Thanks for the info though.
