    Hey all.

I have been driving a strait truck for the last 2 years, doing local delivery 200-300 miles a day. I do not have a CDL Class A. So I need to go to there school.

My good buddy and I want to Team drive for Swift. We are going to apply tomorrow. About how long well it take to get a reply from swift?

Anyone know how home time works for team drivers? Is it the same as a solo driver?

    Thanks for any help,
    James.

    Hey Jlightning,

I am not sure how the team works with swift, but I can let ya know that if you are going to submit the application online I found it worthwhile to call the recruiter afterwords just to verify that they had recieved it. If you end up talking to Cindy ther is a chance that you will have to call her a few times beings that sometimes she is hard to get ahold of and slow to call back.. the only reason I know this is because I have been talking with her for a little over a month and I am actually starting the academy next Monday..

BTW hows Santa Cruz holding up down there? I was born and raised in Salinas and Gonzales....

Thanks, I will call them the next day after submitting my application.

The recruiter I spoke with on the phone was Richard L.

Santa Cruz is still Santa Cruz. You know, with all the summer vacationers coming over, it gets pretty crowded.

Your best bet is to browse the various Swift threads for teaming information. I would ask the recruiter the following questions when you call him/her back:

How many miles are teams averaging?
    What equipment do teams get?
How much do teams make compared to solo drivers?

    I drive team for swift.

I team with my husband. As new, experienced we make the bottom pay scale which is 32 cents a mile. It's split between the two of us and we get paid on all miles. We're running between 4-6 thousand miles a week. Hometime is difficult to get to be totally honest.

Currently you can only take 3 days off at a time with the theory being you stay out only 3 weeks. However freight dictates where you run.

We're happy with Swift for the most part.

I would suggest talking to the recruiter before sending in the applications, then contacting him/her to make sure they got received.

I believe that currently CA drivers are still being sent to Phoenix to school and the school there is holding new classes only once every two weeks. The school runs 23 days straight. I really enjoyed my schooling there and still stop by to visit every time we're in the terminal.

I don't have all the answers, I can only share what I know.

    Best wishes!

    Thanks for the reply!

I contacted my recruiter today over e-mail. I will also call him tomorrow to ask if they got my buddy's and my application.

Yea we will need to go to school in phoenix.

Do you know what truck team drivers are being issued? Volvo, Freightliner, International prostar?

    Thanks,
    James.

Edit: I just turned in my application to Swift.:biggrin_25525:

As to which truck is being issued team drivers: yes. LOL all of them are being issued to teams. Currently the large volvos which are the best for teams are being issued to solos to hold the miles down for tradein. Yep you read it right. We're in an international and it's NOT a condo. So if the upper berth is down you do not sit upright. it's a pain and there's very little storage. But it's a good truck and pulls well. I like driving her. Two men probably won't need nearly as much stuff as 1 man and 1 woman.
