Anybody refused to be loaded because a dog in the truck?

I have a smaller Doberman pinscher that has been riding in the Trk with me for the past 12 yrs. I only had one issue in all those yrs, it was at Quantico Va. I needed to fill out paperwork for her, and she needed a tracking device that was mounted to her collar. Delivered a bunch of other gov’t buildings, Air Force, Army, and Naval Bases without issue.

 

That's why I went back to pulling cattle full time bout 6 months ago....no one says sh,t bout my dog

 

I came across a broker looking for dedicated trucks and one requirement (for them) was no pets. It was delivering to a military base that I go to fairly consistent and never have an issue. I find having the paperwork in order helps (rabies/vaccines/vet records). Though like others have said, no load is worth it in my book if I can’t bring my Ruby onto property.

 

A good dog will unload a pot for you... All you got to do is open the gates and place the ramps. A good dog is also very handy when "that one" ##### is on the fight and wont come out. Also very helpful to keep cattle flowing through the chute.

 

I use him to keep them flowing. ....but I don't let him in the trailer too hard to get him cleaned back up.

 

Again, it comes down to that particular base and the security protocol in place. And in low security installations it can be a simple matter of the base commander not wanting dogs/passengers/weapons on his base.

 

Nothing illegal about carrying a firearm in a commercial vehicle.

 

I’ve always been told there are several states it’s not legal and there is no federal license you can get, only your home states which doesn’t apply for other states. What about going into New York? What about going into Chicago? Legal there?

 

Check into what the actual laws are. Dont rely on "what Ive always been told". Some states require a firearm to be secured and unloaded while in transport. Being that the sleeper area is considered our domicle, an officer can't just search it because they want to.

Besides the states with the most restrictive gun laws are states I dont even go to. So for me its mostly a non-issue but I still know the laws as best I can

 

NYC is a no go on firearms. Chicago is fine as long as it’s locked up along with ammo in separate lock box.
