Are you sure your contract doesn't provide for a specific number of retests? Any school that charges you an additional fee to retest after the first fail is taking you for a ride, IMHO.

Watch youtube videos and study it. Practice sittinf in a chair, use a water bottle as a shifter and move left leg like ur working the clutch. And work on the rythm of it . then when u get in the truck take that same rhythm and match it to the rpms and it will all start to fall in place.

    R. E. West Transportation has a cdl program that's free and no contract to sign.
I think you're on salary until you acquire the cdl, then get regular truck driver pay after hitting the road.

We are now offering CDL training through our sister carrier, Online Transport Training Center, located in Indianapolis, IN. There are no tuition fees for our participants and there is no experience necessary. Trainees are paid to be there! We offer free housing during the training period. For students with No CDL, we offer a 7-week training ...

Why? Do you feel that having such a restriction makes you any less of a truck driver? I am not trying to bust your chops, just trying to get you to understand a CDL with this restriction should not affect your earning potential. I counsel taking stock of where you are and work toward where you want to be. Not everybody was born a Trucker. Some of us had fathers who were. My father taught me how to operate a manual tranny using the "fist" system. If I scratched a gear I got hit. Sounds horrible, however since his death in 1997 I have come to cherish those memories. Slow down, one step at a time. If in the future you are offered a job with a carrier that uses manuals, be honest about that restriction and see if they will spend some time helping you learn the fundamentals of operating a manual. If they want a driver bad enough they will work with you, if not go back to operating an auto-shift!
