Mobile local mechanic said it's the starter. He didn't have a computer to hook it up to my truck,and insisted that it's the starter.

You don't need a computer to check a starter....a simple multi meter will do. Hell a spare headlight and 2 pieces of wire will check a starterspyder7723 Thanks this.

That's what I told the mechanic. He wants to get paid for installing the starter,rather if its the solution or not.

Im gonna send you a PM with a local shops info. This is my former employer, they just rebuilt the engine in my current company truck and about the only shop I trust. They will fix your truck and not rip you off.
