Wow you guys have hauled some serious loads. And I thought it was cool when I carried 1 warhead with a Conway load. lol I loved seeing that California dots face when he looked at my paperwork.
Then around superbowl week I hauled a load of beef, then the next load was beer, then the next load was 62'' plasma tvs,,,I was like #### I had the makings of the best superbowl party on earth, and the warhead would have made for a hell of a fireworks show lol.

I had a funny looking lowboy pass me going at a high rate of fuel consumption and was about to ask the the driver what the hurry was when I saw the radioactive hazmat signs. I don't remember seeing any ground escorts, but it wouldn't surprise me if someone was watching over the T/T. I watch a show on History Channel about the Hazmat loads that are driven on the Highways and the railcars and trucks that carry radioactive loads can take a really big hit before they are damaged . I've also had a few T/T with the Explosvie 1.1 placard pass me as well. Since I have been in the the Air Force I knew not to ask what they were carrying , but I could make some well educated guess's.

Used to called Tri State Motor Freight years ago out of Joplin. Had alot of freightliners in the 60s hauling same thing now, bombs or black powder. Some of the trucks had drome boxes on the rear. Some may remember in the late 60s a truck east of Joplin on I-44 was blown up by rifle fire going down the road with a load of dynamite. The engine was found 1 mile from the site. Driver was never found. The people that did it was disgruntled employees on strike.

Outside of Orangeburg SC,at a pilot, gettig fuel on evening and began to notice these three long nosed petes, at different pumps fueling up. One guy fueling shirt tail out whit a huge bulge on his right hip........driver behind the wheel, watching everything carefully behind one inch thick glass......oh, and the two, non descript white vans parked at each end of the block...........kindA scary sight......

I realize this is a very old thread and I might never get a response. I have a strong feeling my grandfather drove as a ghost trucker. He has been deceased since 2001 and based on several things, I believe this is what he did. How do I find out for sure if he drove as a ghost trucker?

When I lived in Asheville, NC I would periodically see several very plain Petes pulling very plain van trailers (no lettering, placard holders, or CB antennas) on I-26 or I-40. I don't remember if they even had license plates or not. Being near Oak Ridge I assumed they were hauling things that go bump in the night.
