14'6" is legal height in Colorado. I know, crazy right? I got in a big argument with dispatch about it and they brought out the CDOT paperwork. (cost me a soda and a bunch of crow)

If your holding a permit for over height and on the interstate, is that considered a safe bet? Many overpasses are not labeled.

It “should” be safe but it always worries me. The state makes it clear (at least here) that even if your on your prescribed route and are within your permitted dimensions you’re still at fault.booley, D.Tibbitt, Cabinover101 and 7 others Thank this.

In my area I’m pretty familiar with the routes to but I still worry when I’m tall.booley, D.Tibbitt, Cabinover101 and 6 others Thank this.

I worry about all mine but especially if I haven’t loaded the piece before or been to the site or area before. So I worry all the time basically.
we just don’t have near as many low overpasses, especially unmarked on the interstate as you all do back East. -
The bridge coming into our town had a 13‘5“ clearance. Before that bridge, is a mile long 8% grade with a sweeping left-hand turn most of the way so you can’t see the bridge until you’re almost at it. All my life, there was a sign 3/4 of the way down the hill and it said the clearance was 13’7”. Last year the kid that plows my driveway clipped it with a well drilling rig, dinged the #### out of the first crossmember. Got out and measured it and it’s 13‘5“. They haven’t paved that road in my lifetime until about a month ago. They did not grind the old blacktop off. ...Someone ripped down the sign that said 13’7” shortly after the crossmember incident.
Last week they put up a new one that says 13’5”. I don’t know how it could be the same height clearance being that they did not mill off the top layer, they just topcoated it.booley, D.Tibbitt, Cabinover101 and 5 others Thank this.
