good read rookietrucker
rookietrucker Thanks this. -
AH! Maybe rookie can tell me if one can add freeze 12 freon to my unit that has r-12 in it?
-
do a search in this thread http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...r-operator/78842-doing-what-cant-be-done.html
for freeze 12 or look for posts by barcode He put some very good AC info in that thread. -
I did the search for this freeze 12 question if your going to post about the facts of a/c then just answer the question would suit me just fine!
-
Insulating the cold side of the AC lines keeps them...well...cold. Run the engine and the AC for a bit then open the hood and find the cold line (which will be cold like a beer out of the fridge and usually will also have condensation on it like that can of beer) and wrap it in that $.87 foam from home depot for your hot water pipes. Then get a roll of that aluminum reflective tape and wrap the insulation with that. Be creative and do your best to shield the aluminum line from heat.
The colder the system stays before it reaches the Evaporator the less it has to cycle which saves fuel and wear and tear on the AC system.
A word of caution though if you are one of those people who likes to sit in a frosty truck with AC cranked full blast for hours on end this modification can actually ice up the Evaporator in the dash. -
My A/C has only 2 settings. Low and Ice Cream -
So does ours. LOL
-
WOW! Relax! I gave you a point of reference in which if you took the time to read would have found your answer. I did not post any statements about the freeze 12 specifically since I am not thouroghly familiar with it.

Would you strap, tarp, and you might as well just DRIVE it there for me too buddy. Ill just wait for my check to come in the mail lol
