So I am a wannabe and my wife has been very supportive of my decision to change careers. She did run a question by me today and I know it has kind of been on her mind. Have any of you guys ever had an affair out on the road? I cannot ever imagine myself doing that and I have expressed that to her. She knows that I love her but I know it is a concern of hers. I kinda told her that there really isnt a lot of time for that kind of thing when you are otr as you have places to be at certain times.
Affairs on the road...I need some honest answers here.

You are just as likely to have an affair on the road as you are at home. Maybe even less so since you are never in the same place long enough. You don't get to flirt with the same secretary day in and day out. I would love to see some kind of honest poll about who cheats more; the trucker, or the lonely wife at home.

I'm sleeping with the guy I team with.
Oh wait, he's my husband............never mind. -
I have always been faithful to my wife of 18 years. I have been all over the place and even across the big pond. Sad to say people do cheat. I have seen it happen from truckers to soldiers. Thing is if you can't trust a spouse this is the wrong line of work.

This is unlikely to end well.
Sorry for your situation.Big Don Thanks this. -
I have had some "one night affairs". But then again I'm single and ugly so I take what I can get!

Ask your wife....seriously.
What is the likelyhood she would have married you, had you only seen or called her once a year?
In all honesty, the affairs you "might" have on the road. Will be paid for, with cash.
I did date a woman while I was an OTR driver and single. But only because I was able to get regular trips to where she lived. We had a high volume of freight going to that particular drop yard. So I was able to see her once or twice a month.
But that is very uncommon for most OTR drivers. -

If she is already worried that you may cheat, it's unlikely her thoughts will change AFTER you get on the road.
To be a stay-at-home truckers wife, you have to have absolute faith and trust in your husband, and the strength of your marriage. If this is absent, or not as strong as it needs to be, I see many hard times for you &your wife, should you decide you will go on the road.
Just my opinion, of course.
Good luck to you!

If as one person suggested you're asking if you can get ermmmm "friendship" on the road.......well yes you can. Even I at 53, overweight get hit on with regularity.
However, if you're asking about the rate of cheating on the road....well I sincerely doubt it's any higher than anywhere else. As a financial manager I got hit on, as a pastor I got hit on, as a stay at home mom I got hit on. As a law enforcement officer my husband got hit on, as a production manager he got hit on and now as a driver he gets hit on too. It happened last night again in fact, another female driver hit on him in the fuel lane, I was in the sleeper berth and had gotten up to see why we were stopped. I heard her through the open window, leaned out and said "hey woman, do I need to put on my big girl panties and come out there to deliver some 'get your claws off my husband education'?" She apologized and left quickly.
The fact isn't where you are that keeps people from cheating....it's WHO you are. It's your character and your morals. Talk to your wife about those. Then it's up to her to trust or not trust you and up to you to keep your scooby-doo underroos up.simplyred1962 and Big Don Thank this.
